Do’s and Don’ts Of Packing For Vacation

As rewarding and fun as most vacations can be, every one of them comes with a little bit of work to do beforehand. You’ll need to figure out the logistics of where you’re going, where you’re staying, and what you’ll be doing when you get there. Those three tasks aren’t even the hardest part of the job, either; the hardest part is definitely packing! What you decide to pack for your vacation can make or break your experience. So, how do you go about doing it the right way? We offer some tips on the do’s and don’ts of packing for vacation below!

Don’t: Bring Too Many Shoes

Even if you’re doing a lot of physical activities while you’re on your vacation, be mindful of how many pairs of shoes that you decide to bring. Shoes take up a lot of space in your luggage and there isn’t a surefire way to compress that space to make room for other things. If you have a pair of gym shoes and a pair of nicer looking shoes, those should be the only ones that you need. If you pack too many shoes, you likely won’t have room for more important items. Multiple pairs of shoes aren’t a necessity; leave them at home!

Do: Roll Your Clothes – Not Fold Them!

The way you pack your clothes in your suitcase can make or break the amount of room you have leftover. While you might think folding your clothes is the simplest way to save space, this actually isn’t accurate! Rolling your clothes allows them to compress into a tighter form, allowing you to stack them and sort them easier to save space for other valuables. If you want to spend a little extra, you can also try rolling them in vacuum sealed bags to compress them as tight as possible!

Do: Check The Forecast Beforehand

If you’ve ever been to a location and found that you were completely unprepared for the climate, this point should hit home for you! Checking the forecast before you start packing will allow you to prepare for any inclement weather conditions that may arise during your stay. You won’t be caught in a rainstorm without an umbrella if you check this! You can also bring things like a light jacket and sweatshirt in case things get colder than you anticipated.
